VIP-CCTV

Traditionally CCTV Systems have been the preserve of the security department, with the primary focus being:

  • Prevention of loss
  • Reduced insurance policies

  • A deterrent to reduce the risk of internal losses.

Camera systems were traditionally hard-installed, with cameras feeding back to local recording systems backed off to local storage and even cassette tapes. The cost of such an in-store installation, hardware and the overhead of maintaining the storage has been high and prohibitive.

Low cost WAN DSL networks have become a basic requirement for most systems in the retail arena. POS and Back Office systems rely on central databases and these, now very stable, WAN networks, have allowed such infrastructure designs to flourish. CCTV has also developed along these lines and locally/centrally recorded IP-based solutions are now widely available.
